Balladeer Letoya Luckett has finally released an uptempo song for us. She's been the go-to Summer Ballad singer since her 2006 chart-topping release "Torn." Now she's stepping up to the "fast track plate," and she may hit a home run with this one. This is definitely a hot video and song for the ladies. It's already gaining lots of buzz all over the internet, and that's good news for Letoya's forthcoming album, scheduled for release later this year.
Have a look at the video here:
*The timing's a bit off towards the end, but there's no denying this track is fire*
"You're a puppy on a leash, time to come back home.
I done let you out to play, but you ain't playing fair.
You done met this lil' stray, bringing flees 'round here."

Read the lyrics... I'm not even going to listen to this trash song....I'm tired of women being blind and stupid (granted..she probably didn't even write the song but still).
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read the title I knew it was going to be a woman fighting with another woman who "stole" her man. Why must women always attack the other woman in these situations? Did you know your man was cheating? No...so how do you know the other woman knew about you?
Get the person who is really at fault here... the two-timing guy. Not only is she angry at the other woman...she is threatening her; "i'ma put my foot down on homegirl's neck". Is that necessary? Put your foot down on your idiot man's neck if you want to hurt someone.
And...another thing that kills me...is she wants her man still. The guy has proven he will cheat as soon as the grass looks greener...why take the idiot back? Its situations like these (Watch Jerry lol) that "spoil" men. There are good men who don't cheat but then there are men who do and get away with it once or twice who can never truly be rehabilitated (in my opinion). Once a cheater...maybe...more than once...nah....That's because there are no true repercusions. I watch that show Cheaters...I think I'm an expert now :P. Its like...the woman takes her man back and he realizes that all he has to do is buy some roses, apologize and/or propose, and bide his time and he can do it all over again with pretty much the same results. STOP TAKING THESE MEN BACK! He does NOT love you...no matter how much he says he does. I have never had an OOOPS I SLEPT WITH SOMEONE ELSE moment...it's pretty hard to get aroused and actually go through the motions of having sex accidentally. You cant love someone and be able to treat them like trash....
I give this song an F for failure to step up and be a real woman.
God sometimes I sound like such a bitch.
ReplyDeleteNo I dont hate men (just cheaters).
No I dont hate Letoya Luckett (just her lack of good material...dont know who to blame exactly for that).
No I dont hate women who hate the woman that helps their man cheat (just want them to stop for a second and consider whether or not the woman might have known. If you know her and she knows you...then...lol)
I mean...the only other Letoya Luckett song I remember is "She Don't" (what's with her song titles being gramatically incorrect?) which is about her trying to take her ex from his new girlfriend....wait.....what.....wait..... So its ok for her to poach KNOWINGLY but not for some other chick to just be in a relationship with a seemingly nice guy (and/or purposely man stealing)? I'm gonna need you to make up your mind trick. Now I hate this song even more...
Did u bait me? I mean seriously.... lol
ReplyDeleteLMAO....so.... Umm...what are you going through? Boy troubles much? haha...now let me read your comments in full!
ReplyDeleteNo I just HATE when women fight with each other over a no good man. If he's sleeping with both of you claiming to love you...its clear he doesnt. Drop him and move on. He won't learn and deep down inside you're both massaging his ego by fighting over him...
ReplyDeleteAnother song you should remember is her biggest "Torn."
ReplyDeletein any case, I can understand everything you're saying, but I think the song is realistic and reflects WHAT women actually feel. When they are cheated on, they not only feel angry but they get insecure regarding themselves (Why did he cheat) - Thus they rush to judging the other chick involved and naturally want to prove to the man that they've messed up the Best thing they had.
When she says "put my foot down on homegirl's neck," it's not out of the desire to beat the girl up. It's, once again, to display her dominance and superiority over the 3rd wheel chick. The lyric continues "To make YOU SEE that...she ain't got sh*t on me." The song isn't geared to the other woman but rather making the man feel like trash for giving up such a great woman.
Lastly, regarding artist integrity...haha...I'm not going to hold Letoya to any higher standard than Beyonce or Rihanna. Rihanna sings about "Unfaithful" one minute and "Take a Bow" the next. Beyonce sings "Ring the alarm" - I'l be damned if I see another chick on your arm - and then "Irreplaceable" - go ahead and get gone. And don't get me started on the schizophrenic, bipolar male artists that go from love to hoes every other song.
I give artists a certain degree of leniency, as they have to touch on different issues/perspectives. What Letoya's singing is still believable and somewhat justifiable...and relationships are case by case (some are more connected and thus worth saving than others). As long as she doesn't come out with a track about shooting up a club or smoking crack, I'm fine.
You might want to listen to "Obvious" from her first album or "I'm Good" which is also about cheating, but takes the attack to the man
